GeoSpatial Innovations, Inc. is looking to hire a highly motivated and organized Project Manager to join one of our enterprise software scrum teams. GSI is a 20+ year-old software company with a global customer base, good benefits and a relaxed work atmosphere where a talented individual’s contribution is rewarded, appreciated and developed. We provide software products and services to electric and natural gas utilities throughout the United States, Canada and Australia.

 

Required Skills/Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Prior professional level project management experience preferred.
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Utility (electric/gas) industry experience preferred but not required.
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills, including clear and concise writing skills for effective communication with customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to recognize and diagnose complex problems and collaborate with project teams to formulate and execute effective solutions.
  • Positive attitude to self-development, receiving feedback and coping with change.
  • Self-motivation and willingness to take initiative while working as part of each project’s team.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with scheduling software: Microsoft Project and Microsoft DevOps highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams, OneNote and Outlook applications required.

Job Responsibilities

  • Creates and executes project plans, revising as required to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Maintains project schedule and assists management with resource allocations for project phases and work tasks.
  • Effectively communicates project statuses to stakeholders and team leads.
  • Facilitates regular status meetings for each project with customers and team leads.
  • Facilitates or attends project meetings with the customer and other project implementation vendors.
  • Resolves or escalates risks, conflicts and issues in a timely fashion.
  • Provides tactful and effective communication of difficult/sensitive project issues and information.
  • Manages and tracks milestone invoicing and associated deliverables.
  • Delivers a high level of support for customer needs for both internal and external customers.
  • Assumes ownership of assigned tasks based on customer and team needs to ensure timely and accurate completion of each task.
  • Successfully manages projects from project initiation through project completion.
  • Tracks customer reported issues and defects for timely and successful resolution.
  • Maintains positive client relationships.
  • Generates “add-on” work.
  • Ensures that all project documentation is recorded and organized in MS Teams and/or MS SharePoint.

This position may require occasional work outside of traditional hours to meet deadlines, attend company events or travel.

GeoSpatial Innovations, Inc. is looking to hire a highly motivated and organized Electric Design Engineer to join our Utility Design Services team. GSI is a 20+ year-old software company with a global customer base, good benefits and a relaxed work atmosphere where a talented individual’s contribution is rewarded, appreciated and developed. We provide software products and services to electric and natural gas utilities throughout the United States and Canada. 

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • 1+ year of Distribution Engineering experience at an electric utility or as a contractor for an electric utility
  • 1+ year of experience with electric overhead distribution framing and/or underground distribution design
  • Familiarity in one or more utility design software (DDS, ArcFM, ArcGIS, PLS-CADD, O-Calc, PoleForeman, etc.)
  • Familiarity with one or more asset management software (SAP, Maximo, STORMS, WMIS, CREWS, etc.)
  • Knowledge of the current edition of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and other rules and regulations that apply to power system design and operation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Motivated self-starter with ability to work in a flexible and fast-paced environment
  • Highly adaptive and capable of being an individual contributor as well as working as part of an extended team
  • Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously and respond to frequently changing priorities
  • Must have a high degree of initiative, ability to work with minimal or no supervision
  • Must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Possess excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Willing to travel for client needs (occasionally out-of-state)

Optional Skills/Qualifications

  • Basic understanding or willingness to learn NESC and NEC codes and standards
  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Drafting and CAD or in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited university
  • CAD and 3D CAD experience (AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of electricity and applied electrical systems
  • Basic understanding of construction methodologies and practices
  • Basic use and understanding of construction tools (tape measure, hammer, etc.) 
  • Ability to read, interpret, summarize and discuss blueprints, technical drawings and maps

Job Responsibilities

  • Design overhead and underground electric projects using client-provided engineering software
  • Create construction cost estimates
  • Gather information from client GIS and maps, Google Maps, and Google Earth for any assigned projects
  • Determine fuse size and coordination
  • Learn and apply client design and construction standards
  • Create tree trimming sketches and estimates
  • Create Right-of-Way requirement estimates
  • Field check assigned projects
  • Stake minor projects
  • Interact effectively with GSI team members and GSI’s Utility Customers
  • Support GSI and its customers through other duties as assigned
