1999
Carl Livingood provides consulting services to electric distribution utilities in the United States as a sole proprietorship DBA GeoSpatial Innovations (GSI).
2000
GSI begins to provide software development services through contracted employees.
2001
GSI develops its first software product, Pocket Designer, for capturing electric powerline design data in the field using mobile and Global Positioning System (GPS) technologies.
2002
GSI successfully secures its first major software sale to American Electric Power, leading us to 25 years of business.
2003
GSI develops its second software, Pocket Collector, playing a pivotal role in assisting utility companies during their inspections and inventory management of utility assets in the field.
2004
GSI continues to promote and sell software solutions in the Utility Industry. GSI launches their third software product, Pocket Scout, for assessing storm damage.
2005
GSI and Itron come to an agreement to allow GSI’s Pocket Designer to fully integrate with Itron’s Distribution Design Studio (DDS) software.
2006
GSI develops Pocket LZ Surveyor, a software built for the US Air Force Special Operations Command.
2007
GSI consolidates and rebrands three of their products. Pocket Designer, Pocket Collector, and Pocket Scout are now a new product called GSI AssetManager.
2008 & 2009
GSI develops and launches its fourth software product, GSI Forester, our Utility Vegetation Management software solution to get a foothold in the UVM market.
2010 & 2011
GSI establishes an Advisory Board to assist the ownership team in making critical business decisions.
2012
GSI is hard at work embarking on a major software initiative to migrate GSI Asset Manager from On-Premises to Microsoft’s Azure (cloud based hosting).
2013
Austin Energy (electric utility in Austin, TX) contracts with GSI to enhance and extend GSI AssetManager Forester vegetation management software.
2014 & 2015
GSI makes a game changing purchase in 2015 by purchasing Distribution Design Studio (DDS) from Itron, Inc. including employees, several software products and customer contracts.
2016
GSI acquires the Trimble Energy Transmission Solutions (TETS) business from Trimble Navigation Limited including employees, several software products, and customer contracts.
2017
GSI names Lisa Livingood as President and Chief Executive Officer and obtains certification as a woman-owned business enterprise (WBE).
2023
Esri Solution Alignment Award for GSI’s work during the migration of FirstEnergy onto Esri’s Utility Network.
