A few weeks ago GSI had the opportunity to attend the Hexagon Live User Conference in Anaheim, CA. For those that aren’t familiar, Hexagon is the parent company of Intergraph after an acquisition in 2010. The conference brought users of Hexagon hardware and software products along with numerous business partners together for an eventful number of days in the land of Disney.
Hexagon brings a wide variety of products to the market, across numerous industry segments. The sessions and exhibit floor provided knowledge and information to attendees according the following tracks:
- Process, Power & Marine
- Safety & Infrastructure
- Geosystems
- Manufacturing Intelligence
- Geospatial
While we have worked closely with Intergraph to integrate our products with their G/Technology GIS system it was a great opportunity to see what Hexagon’s other companies have been working on and look at developing technologies that may make their way to utilities. For example, Phoenix Aerial Systems was showing off their small UAS LiDAR systems (drones) and Leica had everything from handheld range finders to the Pegasus:Multiscope, an unmanned “LiDAR tank”.
The Hexagon Live User Conference was very well attended by just under 3,000 people from all over the world. We set up our new GSI booth at our assigned space in the exhibit floor and stood post for the week alongside the other Hexagon partners. It provided a great opportunity to network with attendees across the various business segments mentioned above, but it was an especially good opportunity to spend time with our existing G/Tech customers that are using Distribution Design Studio (DDS) and transitioning to DDS. It was our first time exhibiting at the Hexagon User Conference, and our customers took notice and provided positive feedback about our partnership.
Looking forward to next year.
